The storm system, which arrived on Wednesday, Feb. 28, is bringing powerful wind gusts of 25 to 25 miles per hour to the state and is set to continue overnight into Thursday, Feb. 29, according to predictions from the National Weather Service.
Because these conditions could very likely knock down trees and power lines, Eversource is keeping a close watch for outages and other damage, the company said.
"We’re closely monitoring the situation and have activated our emergency response plan," the company said in a statement, adding that crews have been pre-staged in areas of expected damage to make sure they can quickly respond.
Additionally, the company has prepared extra supplies of utility poles, wires, transformers, and other equipment to make repairs easier.
Eversource customers who need to get in touch with the utility company during the storm can call 800-286-2000 to do so.
As of Wednesday morning at around 10:30 a.m., Eversource was only reporting 21 customers without power.
